stay in track and see if there are things that you can do to help the animal club during non-sport hours. If it's poster making, or phone calls or collections that need to be done for the animals then you can help out when you are not training.

This is one of those situations where the only person who can really decide what to do is you. As you move through life, you'll be faced with more and more of this kind of situation and it truly sucks.
However, there are ways to make such decisions. First, list the reasons why you want to do track - every single little reason including "obvious" stuff like "to keep in shape" "work for a scholarship" "win a medal/trophy" "train for Olympics" "looks good on college app". Then put a number next to each reason indicating it's importance with (1) being most important, (2) slightly less important, etc.
Then do the same thing with your club.
When you're finished, look at the most important things on both of your lists. If the only way you can satisfy the most important reasons on each of your lists is by participating in both activities (which you can't) then you have to decide based on which reasons are absolutely the most important to you. But it may be that you can achieve most of your important goals simultaneously.
For instance, if helping animals is the most important reason to join the club, you may find you can help animals on your own or with a friend at a time when it won't conflict with track.
Whatever you decide, be secure in the knowledge that the world won't stop spinning and life will go on. Enjoy!

Wow ... A big dilemma that loves to do a lot of things *^^* ...
Well obviously you cant do both in a year ...
So here's what im gonna tell you and in the end you can decide:
1) You could do the CLUB... Its a good choice cuz you have your friends!!! Not your sososo friends... And in there you get to meet new people and at the same time help the needy animals ...
So you get to have fun and help those in needy
2) You could do the winter track, work hard in the afternoon... Get to know better your "sososo" friends and probably win a medal *^^* and do the needy thing next year...
So you get to work hard, get to know your "soso" friends better, and have the pride to win or lose...
Your choice *^^*

You have to think about what will ultimately make you happy on the inside. Even though some may think that this is a small decision, it will make a huge impact on you high school life. I never entered any sports in school. Instead, I did what I enjoyed and entered different organizations. My four years of high school ended up being some of the most enjoyable years of my life. Think about when you are out of school; are you going to be able to look back and say that you enjoyed doing what you loved, or are going to regret something? I hope you are able to do whatever makes you happier in the long run.

Why dont you try them both most coaches or club directors will allow you to miss some things ...I think you should prob to the club you can always to summer track.
But the least you can do is talk to the head person of the club and see if you can make it like everyother get togethering or like find out this information during your lunch or something like that.

By how you worded your question I would say you really want to do the club more than track. It is really up to what you enjoy the most.

Try not to base your decision on who else is doing it. Really think abut both things and do the one you really want to do. Would it be enough for you to help animals and give up all sports? Or you can volunteer in a local shelter during the summer months and to sports during the school year. Do what you want to do, not what everyone else is going to do.

Do whichever one you feel is more important. Don't rely on deciding by how many friends you have in both of the clubs. Go by what you would rather like to do.

You have to learn that you can't please everyone. You have to do what makes you happy. Is track just something you decided to try or have you done it before? If animals are your passion, then do it. I would rather do the animal thing, but that's just because I don't like to run...haha!
Good Luck and God Bless!!!
