Laptops are not meant for games. They never have been and never will be. This is because laptops don't have the space or heat dissipation needed to support the kinds of processors and video processors that current games require.
That said, if you spend a lot of money on a laptop, it will play older games, although usually not at full quality.
A computer will only 512 MB of RAM and 60 GB HD is unlikely to have a very fast processor, or a decent video card. So it probably won't work for your games. You'll want:
Min 1GB RAM
Min 2.0Ghz Processor
Min 128MB video card
And even then, most games won't run well.
Get a desktop computer with a decent video card.

First of all I would suggest more ram .... especially if it has (most laptops do) an integrated video card that shares the system's memory.
If this is a Celeron CPU....just forget it. You will only be feeding frustation. Only a high end Centrino, P4 or the newer dual core processors will offer satisfactory performance for most new (& very resource hungry) games.

What's the graphics card? That's the most important issue for most modern games..
