Sadly yes, good-looking people have a whole array of options that others don't. There are jobs out there specifically for beautiful people that others never even come close to qualifying for. It is sad but in a world that cares only about money and sex the not so good-looking people are limited with their options. Vanity is only getting worse with plastic surgery, makeup, wigs, anything to improve our looks. I just read this morning on Yahoo news about girls as young as seven being anorexic. What is going on with this world when a little girl worry's about being over weight rather than who she's gonna play with over the weekend. It seems as if parents push this on their children with the trendy clothes, 10 year olds wearing makeup to school and parents who doll up their 4 year old for beauty pageants. Adults set the standard in our society. And well, everyone enjoys eye candy. As adults we are teaching our children what we feel is important. Whether we want to or not, everyone judges a book by its cover and well, who reads an old dirty book with half ripped pages that are all yellow. Not too many people do. Some would rather throw it away and buy a new clean book to read or just not read it all. I hate to admit that I instinctively want what looks better. We all do it, we will pay more money for something that is nicer (prettier) than something that looks not as good but still serves it's purpose well. I know pretty women who have been hired into secretarial postions who can't type, are rude on the phone and have no people skills, but their looks qualified them for their position. I know an out of work secretary who can't find a job who has over 10 years experience but because she is older and a full figured woman she still is jobless. It's sad but in the end we do it to ourselves. We want to date the good-looking young man, we want the nice car and house, we want to be better than others. We push those ideas onto the next generation for it only to grow into more vanity, more selfishness and more poor self esteem. A cycle that will end only when Jesus Christ returns. Good Luck & God Bless!

Studies have shown that yes, they do get treated better. (I'm doing a project on it for Sociology)

On TV they did this experiment. A lady dressed as an ugly woman w/ messy hair and barely anyone would do the survey they were giving out. After a while, she dressed up as a beautiful blonde and nearly everyone did the survey. She even got a few phone numbers from guys. There have, also, been studies on how teachers tend to favor the "cute kids". Unfortunately something like that happened to me (I wasn't the "cute kid").

Yes. And I think weight is also a big and closely connected factor.

I used to be overweight. Then I lost a lot of weight and am barely overweight anymore and look better now too and I notice a huge difference in how people treat me, especially strangers and people who know me little. Woah, suddenly I'm a human! Interesting that they finally figured that out after all those years.

So yes, there is no doubt in my mind that looks have a lot to do with how people are treated.

Oh yeah. I once wore a pair of old jeans, a T-shirt and an old leather flight jacket and went to a store to buy a set of eye classes. I was completely ignored. the hired help were eager to help others who appeared to have more money and dressed better than me. I went home, changed clothes and returned and asked to speak to the manager. I was ready to offer up a tip of $100 to the first employee that would help me. I've crooked teeth and often times appear unkempt and dishevled... It's amazing what the little cockroaches will do once they've learned that you have money.

I defently agree with everybody. If you look good you have it easier. When I was interviewing for job interviews I noticed that peopel that had a clean cut "wealthy" look were almost always prefered over less waelthy looking applicants. Appearnce is a big factor in todays society, sad but true! I personally hate that....good news is that if yo are a very confident & positive person it shows. So you can improve your looks lol...just dress nicely & be positive & knock em all dead lol

yes of course... the society has been pre- conditioned right from childhood to give preference to people and things that are attractive... face is the index of the mind they say, but thats soooo false... people who mite look like axe murderers may turn out to be the warmest and smartest of people... and this want to be treated like with respect has led humans esp women to put all their time and effort into looking beautiful.. there are so much more fulfilings things in this world, that can be achieved with a beautiful heart and mind and not a body...

Unfortunately, yes, I do believe that is a factor. Humans seem to prefer what is most pleasing to the eye, which makes sense although it is a false way to gauge people. Hopefully we can begin learning to focus on spirit and compassion instead.

As sad as it is the answer is Yes. Also taller people make more money. People don't realize it but they do treat less than good looking people different than ones that look good.

I think it's a sad fact that they do. At least, by strangers that is. Another pathetic factor is how nicely they are dressed. I love America, but the way most people in our society judge others based on their physical appearance or beauty is sad commentary on us. It's not what's on the outside that matters.

By the masses I'd have to say yes. There are some who don't treat them better, and of course some who might treat them worse (due to their own insecurities I guess).
