Why? Why must you label greatness>? For your sake, I would have to say yea they are emo, everyone is, we just single out the overly emo people. Regardless, my chemical romance is a great band and shouldn't be judged with labels, they are too great for that. Just listen to the music if you're interested, not based on what label people give them.

I love My Chemical Romance, and I hate Emo! But like all great loves if they are I can look past it.

They are seen as emo, because they sing about depressing stuff and death - which is totally awesome for emo people like myself - but they said themselves that they are NOT emo, but alternative punk - which is heavier than punk, makes more sense, and is soooo much less annoying.

Nope, theyre pop-punk / violent pop (what they consider themselves)
Emo is a form of hardcore music.
And does not stand for emotional, as most people seem to think.

nope they said themselves that they aren't emo. dont listen to MTV they think every band they play is emo. trust me they are not emo. and dorkmunch is right also. :]

everyone defines emo as something different. emo= emotional. and yes they are emotional. but as for their music behind their lyrics....they're emo rock...
Im not a big fan of them tho...boys who wear more make up than I do is just not cool.
