That's a little like asking what the best guitar music in the world is. Essentially, it's all down to taste in music, taste in sound. For me, you really can't get much better than a Gibson Les Paul Standard, an old one with PAF or P90 pickups, through a Marshall stack at full-bore. I'm a bassist though, so bass-wise? A pre CBS Ernie Ball Musicman 5-string, 3-band EQ, played through an Ampeg SVT-II and the 4x10" column speakers, maybe with a 17" bassbin to get the really low growl. Awesome.

Well there are a couple that are VERY VERY good.
1. A Gibson Les Paul thats great for alot of classic rock and some blues
2. The Dean From Hell, this was played by the late, great Dimebag Darrell, this is best for heavy metal and to get some nice squils out of. It has really good pickups as well. Check out www.musiciansfriend.com for some great deals on guitars right now for Christmas. Hope it helped.

It's the 1937 Hermann Hauser classical guitar played by Andres Segovia and donated to the the Metropolitan Museum in New York shortly before Segovia's death. Segovia called this particular guitar "the guitar of the epoch".

OR a sweet sexy Paul Reed Smith flametop solidbody. They're like a blend of the best attributes of Strats and Les Pauls with very high production standards..

I love Fender Strat's, also really like Gibson SG as used by Jimi Henrix, Tony Iommi, George Harrison, .Angus young.

Depends though, each guitar is different and it depends what sound you like, shape, weight, pick ups etcetc

Fender Jagstag as designed by the late and GREATEST Kurt Cobain a telecaster is always a worthy choice don't touch gibsons with a tenfoot barge pole as the pole itself is actually a better instrument SG's aren't horrific though
