Those that support the ideals of our founding fathers. Regardless if those people were born here or legally immigrated here.

If you want this country to continue to succeed and to continue those ideals of freedom. liberty, equality then you are a true American. If you are opposed to all forms of tryanny then you are a true American. If you support all of the bill of rights and not just a few that might further your political objectives then you are a true American.

The values that our founders lived thier lifes by were the Judeo/Christian ethics. Regardless of your religious beliefs or lack thereof if you conduct your life in such a manner then those are the true American values.

If you get a little confused about what those values are then start with the 10 Commandments (found in Exodus chapter 20 in the Old Testament of the Bible) and work your way up from there.

Ronald Reagan was the last true American president.

Both Bush's tried to act like true Americans but were not. Carter and Clinton are not true Americans by any stretch of the imagination. Carter created the problems we have with Iran by betraying the Shah of Iran and allowing the Ayatollah to take control. Clinton gave N. Korea the ability to create nuclear weapons and gave China the ability to pinpoint their nuclear missles anywhere they want in this country.

About the only hope we have for another true American to become president might be someone like Newt Gingerich or Pat Buchanon if they ever run again.

I think it is a person, who lives in the USA, legally, and has contributed something positive to its culture.

Second, I think it is a person who is more interested in what is best for the country, regardless of where they fall politically.

People who play party games with politics, rather than considering the nation's best interests, do not hold true American values.

Our founding fathers pledged their "Lives fortune & sacred honor". That's the best description I know.

A true American is 1 who lives those values. It makes no difference where that person was born.

The original intent and idea of a true American was to be a self-sustaining individual, who did not have to rely on goverment assistance. We have become, however, a nation with too many citizens who are unwilling to help themselves.
