Dear,
Its a 8xDVD+/-RW. It will :
Read and Play DVDs
Read and Play CDs
Burn DVDs as well as CDs
Also the CDs can be CD-R and CD-RW both
same with DVDs, it can DVD-R and DVD-RW.
I have got the same..

Yes. But it's possible for the CD part to break and the DVD part to stay intact. That's what happened to mine -- it won't read or burn cds anymore, but it still reads and burns DVDs perfectly.

Certainly.
The only possible unknown is whether it will read/write CD-RW's, but those are pretty uncommon these days anyway.
Usually they are reffered to as "super-multi drives" - meaning they read and write nearly every format of optical disc.
