I am not a bl@ck. I am asian, but a little dark, i look mexican. My little brother looks white, so he doesn't have the experiences, like me. It's like i am a piece of garbage on the road to (some) americans, i am nobody, usless. I have to work twice as hard and be twice as skillful than (some) white person, just to prove myself or be very educated, to win their respect. Right now, i get treat like a freaking dog @ my job, @ circuit city. How do i cope with this, i just keep to my self and keep a safe distance, i don't get close to anyone, since then, my plan has worked. At my job, an employee, stated racist remarks about me, i told the managers, and they disregard my report. Nothing was done. I am not drawing my conclusion from one situation, but from many situations. It bothers some people, but that's a fact of life, so it doesn't bother me, i know my position in society, i am just happy that i am living in america, if i was across the pacific ocean, i would't have a job!!!

Unfortunately racism still lives on,in some people. I'm mexican with a name that could go for a white girl or african american female.I have no caucasian blood and no afro american blood either. In school when you get your name called out on the first day I would get a weird look cuz of my name,a teacher even said out loud " whoa wasn't expecting you" I didn't quite understand at the time but after a while I realized what she meant. My dad went through the same thing. In the military he had sargent and generals tell him out loud " Brown!, I was expecting a black guy or white boy!" I just say, ignore all that racial bias, those people are rude and ignorent. Soon you'll be the one laughing in their face as you go along you business and working hard and making it to the top of the ladder. Do your job and do it well, stay away from negativity, and if for some reason the racism gets worse like harrassment and physical harassment, take it to court. But if you dont want that kind of problems then get yourself a job where you are happy and appreciated. Or move somewhere where racism is not even seen or heard of. Where I live in Texas,it's a wonderful melting pot of people, very friendly and helpful. We're a border city and it's natural for us to be hospitable. Good luck.

Well, to say it plainly, racism has no place in this world especially in 2015!! The world is moving on. But u see, you have a job in America to say the least. Other racist chants might be hailed at you, not to say thus fine and ok to do that. It's the worst thing ever to any human. But come to China, being black is like the curse on a pearl!! It's practically annoying and so disheartening and dishumanly awful to be black in China!! You won't even have a job to hold if you are a super star!! If you do havea job, then you might have gone through about 50,000 applications to even get 1!! Most 8 out of 10 jobs, will advertised, ' need only whites . It looks like the old apartheid system. It's right here in China !! No jokes folks.

I'm white so this doesen't affect me but I do empathize w/u because I have a psychiatric disability and sometimes if people find out about it they make fun of me and this has happened in the swimming pool area of my apt complex and also I put a giving out candy sign we put if we are givng away halloween candy at on my apt door and someone must have found out where I lived because I heard on Halloween a bunch of girls laughing outside my door. Most of these kids have now moved but it was really awful for a while. I hardly ever go to the pool area this year I didn't go once and don't associate w/hardly anyone in my apt building.

Since you work for a large corporation, you should find out what their employment practices are. If you are doing your job as stated in your position description, you should not be harrassed. If you made a report to the manager and he did nothing about it, he could be subject to disciplinary action himself.
Respect
Our Associates are our greatest assets. We expect every Associate to demonstrate that they respect and value others for their efforts, their knowledge, and the diversity that they bring.
This is on their web page. They have a fiduciary duty to ensure you are treated fairly while in their employ.
You should contact the corporate office in VA and find out what steps you need to take to ensure this does not happen again.
Good luck!

Well, I think it's sad when people have been brought here against their will and then someone that looks different then them, doesn;t like them because their skin is not like the snow, oh so pure and white! please. It's sad that people tell you to go back to your country when, those people should be in Europe! or elsewhere! How the hell could you not like someone because they are in your community that is or may be predominately one race, say White!, then say I don't want you here.
I guess it's too much truth. Hell I'm around people all kinds of people that is. I may not like be fond of some(the ignorant ones), but that's life, the negative aspects of life. Whew sounds disgusting.

Skin color does matter - it shouldn't! There is something to where you chose to live in America. There are regions in the country, cities that are more tolerant... but you probably will still find issues wherever you go. Typically Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, San Antonio are considered somewhat more diversified and tolerant than other places....

First of all,you can't let people make racist remarks at you.You have to stand up for yourself and your race. There will always be people out there that for some pointless reason, thinks that they are better than you.Disregard them.If they make comments straight to your face, that's when you have to defend yourself but If they are not in your face just ignore them because you wouldn't want to start up any trouble.

personally, I have friends from every walks of life.
different race, tribe, sect etc... etc.. the main thing is
we should not worry about any of that instead respect
all, because we are all human beings. And all ways try to
avoid those who start fire by hurting anothers race, tribe, sect, etc...
"If you do remember you are the one who has started the flame, and also if you are one who supports it you are adding more fire into the hatred, be one of those who are the supporter and helpers of those who carry water, so you can help the flame slowly go away." -A.S.B.
