I agree with delyanks. Get a Mac, 2nd choice Toshiba. The new MacBooks run both OS X and Windows, and Macs last years more than PCs. I'm currently using a 3-4 year old Powerbook I got off of eBay and it runs so much better than newer PCs. Second on my list would also be a Toshiba... I had a Toshiba notebook for the first three years of college, and my dad's using it now for simple word processing and web surfing. (It still runs after four years, but runs slow.) Macs have a bit higher sticker price, but run so much better longer.

Get a Mac. They now have windows and will blow everyone else out of the water. I've had Dell laptops and they overheat and then you can't do anything with them and they freeze. My buddies had HP and their hard drives crashed within months of having them. Toshiba would be next on my list under Mac.
