Oh, how I miss my Grandmother! She was the one that no matter what, always made sure Christmas was a blessed season for all of us - her 6 Grandchildren. We would go to their house every Christmas for dinner - walking in smelling the turkey cooking and getting a hug and kiss greeting from her always and a so long when we left. Never ever saying goodbye to us. Well, we lost my Grandmother in 1994 and we try -my sisters and I to keep the warmth of the season my Grandmother taught us alive. All I can tell the readers of this ? is to cherish your Grandparents and Parents while you can - before you know it your 50 and they're 70 and time is getting short. Believe me, I try with everything in me to be the Grandmother my Grandmother was to me. So, Grandma, as you look down from heaven on us, keep being our angel, we miss you and love you......

They lived on a farm and the farm house was really big yet not big enough for all my cousins and me as they had nine children and we all showed up there every christmas,,,They had a big fire in the rock fireplace and food was cooking and baking in the kitchen and we all went with gramps to cut down christmas tree and we got to put our special decor that we had made just for the tree,,,I do not remeber anything like a lot of presents but we had a great dinner and it was warm and I still remember this,

I miss the weekend we would go to my Grandma and Grandpa's and bake Christmas cookies. That is one of my favorite Christmas memories from my childhood. What I wouldn't give to be able to do that again!

Luxurious.
They were quite well-off; it was sort of akin to staying in a luxury hotel. The Jacuzzi was a plus; ditto a good computer long, long before that sort of thing was commonplace.
There was always a low-down shelf in the pantry that'd been heavily stocked with expensive favourite foods and treats of mine. An incredible stocking filled to the brim with little toys from all over the world thanks to their extensive travelling.
Also:
-- plum pudding with lots of coins in it
-- Xmas tree in a sort of attached greenhouse; rather unnervingly, eventually with the presents not under it until the morning of the 25th given burglary worries; in the country this was not
-- presents presents presents; one childhood Xmas, I had to stop opening them and take a nap before finishing opening all mine
-- a pantomime for me; sometimes also/or a ballet or play
-- $ stuffed in my hand for Boxing Day shopping (on the 26th; a big deal in Canada)
I used to cry when it was time to head home.

We never spent Christmas with my dads parents because they just cared about the younger grandkids (my sister and I were the oldest), so they just mailed us cards with $$ in it. Although we would've rather spent time with them and we felt left out through the years because of that. As for my mom's parents they lived about 5 hours away, and usually drove down to spend time with us every year which was fun having them. My grandmother passed away from cancer about 5 years ago, and my grandfather isn't doing too well right now and this may be his last Christmas so we are going to celebrate it fully this year. My grandmother on my dad's side is the only one left this year as my grandfather passed away in 2000 from cancer, and she isn't doing to well either, so we're going to focus on the fun of Christmas this year and bring their childhood memories back for them. =) Should be a lot of fun. Merry Christmas!

We made ornaments from pinecones, and my nanny had a wood-burning heater. Everytime I smell a fire, I think of going to Nanny's house and having Christmas. Also, we used to take those cute little dixie cups, cover them with tin foil, punch a hole in top, and hang them on the tree. I loved Christmas with my Nanny. Now, I have kids, and I'm making Christmas with them very special! Me and my four year old did our Christmas cards today. It was so cute to see her writing her name on "her" cards and putting stamps on envelopes!!
