It is not uncommon for people to fantasize about being different (as in your case "like a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis". It is merely an expression of in inner need, or want. Looking at your name here (goldlust) indicates that you are prone to strong emotions (gold - lust = both very strong words emotively), so that probably explains your inner needs for change into something different (and hopefully better - from a dead looking chrysalis to a beautiful free butterfly).

We, human beings, cannot feel like something until we turn into that something. A butterfly is something that any one of us has turned into. Therefore, any of us, including you, goldlust, has never felt like a butterfly.
We may have a false impression of being that...; but we cannot feel like that.
Going further, you only feel like being North American (from the US) when you once are one; in any different case, one cannot. Feeling something or like something is always subjective, which means that the criteria of experience is needed.
