I'm a M.Ed student. I would like to do my Student Teaching in the San Jose area of Costa Rica. I have a daughter who will be turning 4 that semester (Spring 2009), so I need to be able to put her in a good Preschool. Does anyone have any recommendations about a good Preschool in the area, preferably close to U. Latina or la UNA (Universidad Nacional)?

There are many, many good preschools in San José. You don't say if you're looking for a bilingual one or not.

My suggestion is to find out at one of those universities, or at the University of Costa Rica, depending on where you're going to live and do your student teaching. I understand all of those universities have preschools.

At age 4, she would be attending what is called "Pre-Kinder". Preschool is subdivided in different sections according to age. Schools start in mid February.

I know Metodista, Sek, Montberkeley are in San Pedro, which aren't far from U. Latina. Near UNA, which is Heredia, I don't know any except this one called Santa Cecilia. These are private schools, I don't remember any public school's name. But there're TONS of schools in C.R, I wouldn't worry if I were you.
