If any other country in our position had done what we've done... they wouldn't be criticized as harshly. The difference between us and other countries is that we've spent the entire duration of our existance as a nation telling people that we do THE RIGHT THING. That we do what is morally right. That we protect people.

And now we prove ourselves wrong! The bigger the wall you build, the more bricks fall on your head when it comes down.

I don't know what world you were living in back then, but the world I lived in had no semblance of solidarity and goodwill toward anything western. I remember terrorist attacks dating all the way back to before the Carter years. What I have seen and still see is a defeatist attitude in my fellow citizens. Have mistakes been made? Of course! Does this have to mean that we throw our hands up and walk away? Well, speaking from my viewpoint, no. I'm afraid I have the tenacity of a bulldog and the flexibility of water. If what we are doing is not working, or could be done more effectively, we shift our tactics, giving up is not an option for me. At this point, nattering on about what should have been done, or IF we should be where we are is counterproductive. We are where we are and how we turn the setbacks into success is important. A shift is needed, this is a fact. But waving a white flag is, in my view, a horrible idea. We were built on the premise that you don't walk away just because something is difficult. Having a strong Democratic government in the ME region is a good thing and will take time and cost to put in place. Nobody said it would be easy. Quite the contrary. If we didn't think it was going to be a difficult thing to do, we were kidding ourselves collectively.

Since recorded history, The World powers have been jockeying for money, resources, territory, control, and power over each other. Much like crime bosses jockey for territorial control and power. One strikes the other and the other strikes back: This is sometimes seen as terrorism if no one can pin point which nation was responsible. The U.S. has it's own little terrorist organization, it's called the CIA. It has been doing black operations for quite some time. Lately it has been very active, but has been careful not to get caught, until a few years ago. See this media suppressed story that our government would prefer to keep secrete.

Global Terror Attacks Bear Hallmarks of US Black Ops

"The despicable US media giants were silent when undisputed proof surfaced that the CIA, NSA, British Intelligence, The US Secret Service and the FBI were all involved in the May 16th 2002 blast in a Philippine hotel room when their agent, Michael Meiring accidentally blew his own legs off while constructing a bomb which was intended, if ignited as planned, to be a staged “Al Queda” terror attack, justifying a tightened US- Philippine military alliance."

There are many more of these CIA operations that have been conducted outside as well as inside our countries boarders. I'll try to list some of the big ones: The Bay of Pigs (the underneath story not the official), The JFK Assassination, The Iran Contra Scandle, and of course 9/11itself.

Now I know this stuff does not answer your question, but it sets the stage. I'm on a lunch break now and have to get back to work, but I'll try to get back to aswering your question this evening. Check back then, it gets good and a bit hard to believe.

The world has been hating America for a lot longer than the past 5 years.

In case you missed it the Muslim extremists have been at war with us for quite a few years before 9/11. 9/11 was the second attack on the World Trade Center by the same radical Muslims, not the first.

Ahmadinejad has vowed to destroy America.

Socialists, Communists and any other form of tryannical rule have always hated America because we have shown the world with freedom can do to a nation. They hate us because of our success and their utter failures.

I don't care what those outside of the US think. Those who hate America that live in the US (citizen or non-citizen) can just get out. They are free to leave which is more than can be said for a lot of countries that hate us.

He got Tony Bliar to lie to the British people about their reasons for invading Iraq between them, without any good reason - and creating a bloodbath in the Middle-East against the wishes of Hans Blix, the UN security Council and most of the world...!

Invade Afghanistan. Worked for about a year. Turned the countryside (as if they had a cityscape) to rubble. Invade Iraq. worked for about 6 months. Borderline genocide. Destabilized the entire middle east region. Major oil supplier now in civil war at a time when oil resources are dwindling. Lack of support for alternative fuel resources (We've had about twenty years to do this.). Use of depleted uranium shells; radioactive wasteland. Why should the world be happy about children born with their intestines hanging out of their skin? Media Propaganda (terrorist on every street corner mentality; lies). U.S. sponsored military coup in Venezuela (failed thanks to people and their constitution). Shredding of any remaining civil liberties in america. And the internationally unlawful detainment, torture and brutalization of innocent civilians the world over that you never hear about on the nightly news of our Bush-owned media conglomerates at Clear Channel.
It's sociopathic diplomacy and damn near Hitleresque.

Goes on and on... And you're asking why?

It's one thing to gain the sympathy of others. It's quite another to abuse that sympathy.
