I was having this discussion with someone and they said that he would. I say that he could confess right now and there would be nothing they could do because of the double jeopardy law. Who's right?

You can not try a man for the same crime twice. He would get away with it.

Double jeopardy (also called "autrefois acquit" meaning "already acquitted") is a procedural defense (and, in many countries such as the United States, Canada, Japan and India, a constitutional right) that forbids a defendant from being tried a second time for the same crime. At common law a defendant can plead autrefois acquit or autrefois convict; meaning the defendant has been acquitted or convicted of the same offence previously.

No, sweetie they have a law that is called double jeopardy (no pun intented) that prohibits someone from being prosecuted for the same crime, even if they confess and they have been aquitted. And for the record OJ already confessed in his new book "What if I did it". He is such a loser.

Peace

You're right. Double Jeopardy law prevents them from trying anyone for the same crime twice.

You are right. Double jeopardy. That's why a civil case was filed against him and he lost. They didn't have to prove guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

You are absolutely correct, you cannot be tried for the same crime twice, yes double jeopardy. They might be able to get him with obstruction of justice for lying to the courts but that's about it.
