when the rich abuses the poor like many landowners ,capitalist abuses workers giving them low pay landowners harassed workers even take advantage of them making them like slave labors the rich become richer while the poor become more poorer the poor people think that communism is the only answer the poor become equal with the rich..in communist the rich cannot take advantage of the poor people. everything is equal or controlled by the goverment right.so why do many poor countries prefer to be communist than a democratic countries which the united states cannot see why communism is the best way to get rid of capitalist exploiting low class of people. and they dont realize why many join the communist cause some of those people are victim of injustice done by rich like killing poor farmers and taking over their land by those rich landowners and like what happened in vietnam before the american came rich white french capitalist exploits many poor asian in vietnam .that they revolt

1) Not just the rich get everything taken away - the middle class and even the lower class also lose everything - it's just that the lower class might see some limited improvement in their lives, so it may seem better in the short run.

2) Most forms of 'communism' tried so far don't make ANYTHING equal - those in power still have more privilege than those at the bottom (and it tends to be a BIG bottom).

3) Most forms of 'communism' tried so far have resorted to brutal tactics to enforce their will. The rich still take advantage of the poor...but WHO is rich simply shifts around. Now the government has all the money and power, and is therefore able to do whatever it wants with nothing and no-one to stop it.

4) I'm not going to defend imperialism or colonialsim - it and its after effects are responsible for most of the major problems we have in the world today. But ask yourself this: Does communism really favor the poorest countries in the world, or do the poorest countries, lacking hope, favor communism as a promise that those above them will be stricken down, and that the proceeds will be used to improve the lives of the poorest? Could it be that communism is often (if not always) used by people interested in power to gain a 'sure fire' support base among the numerous underclass - without really wishing them better lives for any reason other than getting into power?

Offering people a simple, clean answer that seems too good to be true (all happily living as economic equals), so far at least, has proven too good to be true, and communism tends to - in the end - lead to abuses as bad, if not far worse, than democratic capitalism currently does.

I don't think that communist governements are bad in theory - but so far they haven't had much luck putting them into practice in a just, equitable, or fair manner - which is what communism was supposed to be about in the first place, right?

The equal poor in Soviet Russia would stand in bread lines while those in higher positions always had the best of everything. It's the same thing in China, the people live in hovels on the farms and the leaders live in the palaces.
Communism prevents the poor from being anything else but poor there is no freedom of religion, no freedom to be something other than what your father was before you and certainly no freedom to travel. Capitalism isn't perfect, but at least if you decide you want to live somewhere else your not shot trying to do so. Last week a group was shot to death around the Tibet border I think you can put that under the heading of abuse.

It has been tried time and time again and has never worked for the long term.

For one, it assumes that being successful is a bad thing. For another, it prevents a good work ethic. After all, if the lazy people and the hard workers are all compensated tha same how many people are going to choose to be the hard workers? Some will, but most do not, history proves it. Capitalism encourages not only hard work, but research and innovation, which benefits society as a whole much more then communism ever would.

"communist the rich cannot take advantage of the poor people."

Nope in communist the GOVERNMENT takes advantage of ALL the people except those who run the government. And the funny thing is the people who run the government are rich.

People seem to for get the we tried communist in the US and it FAILED, badly, so badly that the people almost starved to death. It was only when we embraced capitalism the we really took off as a nation.

So unless you plan on become a big wheel in the government a communist Government is bad. Just look really look at the old USSR or Cuba.

Interesting question.

Many parts of communist governments are "marrying" a free market with communism.

The primary problem is that in a true communism many of the people don't have something to take justifiable pride in. So, they don't work to "ascend" to the highest peaks in society. There doesn't seem to be anything for them to "go for."

As the communist government begin to add more democratic elections and free markets, they add more freedom for their citizens to achieve their own goals, even if that is simply making a nice profit off of theif families farm.

Many communist governments are becoming more and more sophisticated to accomidate peoples needs, and I hope, that they will find a way to value the freedom of humanity in its own right.

Communism doesn't work. Just ask the Russians. When I was young, I remember seeing news clips of Russians standing in lines at stores. LONG lines, just to purchase necessities like toilet paper. And look how many people were slaughtered in Russia by Stalin. Read up on the activities of the KGB.

Don't forget that power corrupts, and whoever is in charge of a communist state has total, unchecked power. No, thanks.

To be brutally honest, would you really like to have toiled away several years in school, worked hard for your career and to make a name for yourself, only to have to give most of your earnings up in taxes? Probably not. And who would? Communism levels the playing field and makes a more equal society, but does the society really deserve to be equal?

Should someone who works in a fast food restaurant deserve to live in a house just as nice as a doctor who went to 7 years of medical school? And if you're really being honest with yourself, would you want to be a doctor or lawyer if you could be well taken care of by the government but have a much less demanding job? Capitalism inspires people to work for those higher paying jobs, because they want to raise their quality of living. Capitalism inspires a lot of things to get done more quickly, advances in technology, etc.

The biggest problem that would face this, is that people want lower class people to have a better life, but when they realize that in order for them to have a better life that they will have to fund that better life, it really doesn't sound so appealing anymore.

There's a difference between colonialism and communism, my dear. The former is what you're describing in a lot of the poor, developing countries. And yes, it's wrong, and exploitive. The answer for them however, is democracy and capitalism. Communism has been an utter failure everywhere it has been tried, and it violates all the laws of economic transaction.

But I'm sure you're probably a college freshman somewhere, drinking the liberal Kool-aid served up by your commie professors... am I right?

Sounds good if you are poor but to me it would not be fair because people who work hard to get what they want out of life would be no better off than people who just sit on their butt and do nothing and that's not fair either.

Communism in it's self is not bad but it's a theory that failed...see Russia.....there will always be one person above people another person. It just a theory that has been shown that it WONT work.

As long as there is greed we all CAN'T be equal.
