Why is it allowed for fans to run onto the field after a college football game, but not an NFL game, where you would be arrested? They claim it is for safety of players, but isn't it more important to protect the college kids rather than professional atheletes? Fans are just as, or more rowdy in college than pros. I think it would be great for fans to storm the field at after a pro game.

Rushing the field at college games is not allowed. It happens mainly because the relatively few numbers of security personnel cannot stop the thousands upon thousands of fans, mainly drunk students, from running onto the field.
You can notice that nowadays, the police/security forces actually surround the goal posts to prevent damage to them and to people.

Actually, it happens more just because of tradition. Most schools will say it is not allowed and warn students not to do it. I went to the University of Missouri and some students were arrested one time when the students rushed the field to tear down the goal posts. The first few were arrested before the staff just gave up and let everyone rush in.

Because they're goofy, and probably drunk.
