The worst forms of racism today are directed with government blessing against whites. There is no job where it is legal to refuse to hire non-whites. There are many jobs where it is legal to say up front, "Whites need not apply".

Believe it or not, I was a white female in a unit surrounded by a bunch of black people. they always helped each other out, but for us white and hispanic minorities, forget it. they would not date me either. I did not discriminate voer color, but they did. They wanted nothing to do with a white women. The White SGT's would not hook me up, when it came to doing tasks around the unit. I alwasy got picked for the details, while the majority group just hung around and relaxed. They worked my but off. I was afraid to file an EO complaint because I was out numbered, what would they do when I got back, work me some more so i would never see my kids (I was a single parent soldier). I never got to go to the promotion board until i got temporary duty in Korea for a year. my civilian supervisor, who happen to be black, sent me to the promotion board. I failed the SGT school twice (PLDC) so I finally had to get out. But who would want to be a SGT in a unit where I would be a minority??? It gave me a taste of what it is like to be black, if you can allow me to say that.

Racism has affected me as much as the lack of compassion that some have for those who have endured the REAL effects of racism and we are all complicit.

My girlfriend lived with 3 other girls last year, they were all white except for a black girl. She was nice enough and we all got on, then she freaked out about she didn't want to pay the full amount for bills. She ended up punching and kicking one of her house mates. We all got really pissed off with her for it but rather than admit she was wrong she claimed we didn't like her because she was black.
I just don't understand racists!

mostly it has meant thay myself and my ancestors enjoyed priviledges not available to others, for example access to education and certain kinds of jobs. mostly it has meant that opportunities were open to me and my grandparents that were not available to others. mostly it has benefited me. i try to use my life to work to assist those who have been negatively impacted by racism - for example teaching at an HBCU or teaching people about racism etc.

Well, at school it sucked because word like honkey, cracker or f*&king white-boy would be used freely, yet if anyone mentioned that it was racist to say those things, they would be suspended and called a racist.
