Does washing elastic in very hot water ruin their elasticity?

The greater the heat, the faster the material breakdown . .
This also applies to dryers which is why elastic items should be removed before totally dry.

Yes! Elastics lose their properties at different temperatures ... depending on how they were made. So, use the lowest temperature possible while still getting the clothes clean.
