the Ark of the Covenant which contain the Ten Commandments, Aaron's rod and some of the manna from Heaven

I believe you're referring to the Ark; this contained the second set of tablets given by God to Moses (the first set had been broken), as well as manna, and Aaron's staff. The explanation of the symbolism differs depending on your particular faith; as I am Jewish, it's not something I am interested in arguing in this forum. Members of other faiths are free to ascribe to it what representations they will; it is not my job to tell anyone what to believe.
