I did change it...when I was 18, from Marielana to MaryEllen...I wanted something people wouldn't look at and go 'huh?'. I was born in Iowa for cryinoutloud. Who in Iowa in the 60s would have even a clue how to say that? And I HATE being called Mary, which is what most people settled for, especially teachers.

When I was younger, I wanted to change my name so badly because no one around here has it and it was always being mispronounced. Now that I'm older, I like my name because of the fact that it's different. I havent yet met another person with my name, its not very common and i like that.
