Washington has no shortage of bullies, but even we can't quite believe an October 27 letter that Senators Jay Rockefeller and Olympia Snowe sent to ExxonMobil CEO Rex Tillerson. Its message: Start toeing the Senators' line on climate change, or else.

They stepped out of line in this matter in my opinion. Telling a business to clean up a mess it made (Exxon Valdez) is far different than telling a business how to think.
And when you Google, do a search for the term Googlebombing. Sometimes you can't always trust what your eyes see.

There is no such thing as global warming. You would need data for centuries if not longer to be able to really tell if there is a change happening. The other day it was 70 degrees at the end of November & that fell short of the record held in the 1930's. Did anyone say anything about global warming back then. No, now if it was 70 evrey day in November & December then I'd say you have an arguement, but not based on the insufficient data they are using now.
The only thing they should threaten is the unbelievable salaries if some CEO's. Cut them back & you'll lower the price of gas & everything else these overpaid people make.

Exxon Mobil may in fact be the largest emitter of industrial CO2,
but for two Senators to say that the company is undermining
U.S. credibility on the subject of global warming is, to say the
least, ludicrous.
The congress itself has messed up the countries credibility
everytine they open their mouths.
They also forget that there are greater natural contributors.
Volcanoes, wild fires.and others to numerous to mention.
These natural contributors, are in fact the worst. They contribute
not only huge amounts of CO2 but large amounts of particulate
matter as well.
Volcanoes, depending on location and severity, can actually
cause almost immediate weather changes.
Thank you very much, while you're up!!!!!!

The Earth is warming up and these guys don't care. It has a lot to do with their products manufacturing and use. They should be held accountable for their actions. Someone needs to speak up for the environment. I guess $10 Billion in profits is not enough to try and clean up their industry.

'Bullies'?! Are you kidding me? The 'victim' here is a multinational, billion dollar corporation that's been gouging the American public for years now while they make record profits and make our planet uninhabitable for human life in the process. Thank God someone's finally standing up to them.
Also, Olympia Snowe is a Republican. I found that out in 30 seconds using Google. Do some research next time before you start lobbing accusations.

What is your problem with this??? You must be a major stockholder in Exxon to be offended. I think it's about time someone started threatening them. Since our military force defends their interests in the middle east, why shouldnt they have to toe the line?

Olympia Snow is a Republican, not Democrat. I guess that basically tells me how much you know.
A good reason to "threaten" the oil companies is because they have been cheating on their off-shore drilling taxes.
OK???

Come on, any Democrat or Republican will tell you we deserve some answers from the oil exeutives on what their doing to stop global warming, and even more important, why they are always raising gas prices on us. They don't need any more protection. It's time for them to do some talking.
