It all depends on where you get your tattoo. Obviously you want to be comfortable. And you don't want to wear tight fitting clothes over the new tat. You'll also want to be able to expose the skin getting tattooed easily. Just keep that in mind and you'll be fine.

Wear something comfortable, minimal jewelery. There's no reason to dress up to go to a tattoo parlor! There's a good chance that you'll get ink/blood/plasma on your clothing (esp the clothing around the area you're getting tattooed), so don't wear anything you really care about. Also, be sure to wear clothing that you can easily move to expose the area that's being worked on, and that won't rub it after the tattoo is done. For example, wearing tight pants if you're getting something done on your thigh is a bad plan.

You should get a tattoo where your not going to regret it in 20 years from now in a place where people can see it sometimes but you can cover it up if you need too

if you are getting a tattoo that will be covered up by clothing when you leave, you should wear white cotton.

t shirt and sweat suit, you might need to fold a pantsleg or sleeve so that your tat doesnt touch it
