If you are not sure what to do always call your doctor to be on the safe side. Also it depends on how far along you are. I was only 21 weeks when I lost my mucus plug and I lost my baby girl a few days later due to incompetent cervix.

The loss of your mucus plug is normal process before having the baby. You might want to let your doctor be aware of what is going on. But, I do figure that you will be going into labor very soon. Pack an overnight back and baby care items to be prepared to go to the hospital for the birth of your child.

My doctor told me no because labor could still be weeks away (or even farther) especially if it's your first. I guess if you really feel you need to hear it from your doctor you could, but they will say you are fine and if your water breaks or contractions come closer than 5 minutes apart (not 10 or 12 minutes, only when 5 minutes apart) then to get into the hospital. Good Luck though!

Yes, you should call your Dr. The Dr knows more about your body than other people & can tell you more of the right thing to do. I have been through the same thing a few times(different pregs of course) & depending on how much I was dialated & if I was having contractions depended on if I needed to worry or not. Call your DR.

I don't think you need to call unless you are also having a bloody show with it. Some women lose their plug a few weeks before labor even begins! If you aren't in labor, your OB isn't going to do anything except tell you what other things to watch for. Now, if you are also having contractions or your water is broken, then YES! CALL NOW!

I wouldn't worry about it. Your plug can regrow if you don't go into labor w/in about 48 hours. (And it DOES NOT increase your risk of infection.) It may or may not mean that labor is near. Just mention it at your next appointment.

I would call to be safe. Just because you lose the plug doesn't mean your ready though.

No need to call the doctor, just mention it at your next appointment. Losing the plug DOES NOT mean you are more vunerable to infection, that is only once your water has broken.
