do i use an alcohol to emulsify it??

I assume you have solid lithium metal
Normally, what you do is to dip it petroleum ether or hexane any liquid alcane you have witha low boiling point.
The paraffin oil is soluble in those solvent.
Lithium is not too flammable so yo should be OK to handle the solid for a little while

like sodium you rinse it in hexanes and then cut it for further use. be sure to not put it down the sink and add water to the hexane beaker and rinse down all tools carefully as to not start a fire
