We have a chance to move to Texas, but I am hesitant. I am worried about safety, tornadoes, killer bees, etc. Pretty much I am paranoid, will I be okay in Round Rock?

Round Rock is very nice. I live right on the border of RR and Austin, and have no immediate desire to move elsewhere.

- Weather is generally good. Hot in the summer, but nice the rest of the year.
- Schools generally good. Since most of RR is suburban, the schools tend to be well rated. Some are a little too large for some people.
- Safety and crime aren't an issue.
- Commerce. There are many local and national chain stores and restaurants. The grocery stores also tend to have a good selection and quality produce.
- Housing is still a bargain. You can still typically buy a house for around $100 sq ft (e.g. 3000ft home for $300K, or less).
- Close to Austin, and drivable distances to Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio.
- Access to the Texas State Parks (Ink's Lake is near RR) for hiking, biking, rock climbing, camping.

Round Rock is a great place to raise your kids. It's not too far from Austin or too close. There are a few smaller towns in between as well. Tornados are not common in that area; Killers are not a problem as well. It would be better if you moved to Pflugerville instead of Round Rock though. The schools are really good in Pflugerville. I'm not sure about the schools in Round Rock. Hope this helps a bit.
