Describing the effect something makes on you when faced with it. Eg reflective writing- something happens, thoughts materialise, you write about it. Also more obvious eg of mirror reflecting an image back, which is not necessarily an accurate representation (laterally inverted, defects in the glass etc).

There are different meanings to the word. One could be 'looking back' as in the past. Reflecting on life events, choices, etc. Another is 'mirror image'. Reflecting your face back at you...Hope this helps!

Reflecting is a subjective way of thinking about something that is on your mind in more detail or something you have done physically that has produced some sort of results or consequence. In psychology Freud used a technique that enables a person to reflect then speak of what they are thinking as a means of analysis.

Another meaning is in counselling, 'where the counsellor acts as a mirror for the client with regards to what has been expressed within a session.'
To varying degrees, the counsellor paraphrases what has been said, but provides additional feedback on other aspects of their exchanges.
