You should tell your Mom that you need for her to sit down and help you to get educated about this issue. If she can't, call your primary care physician or a local clinic and explain your situation. The other answer was right, there are so many sexual diseases you don't need to be a part of that. I can't judge you, but if you were my daughter I'd sit down with you and explain everything I possibly could then make an appointment with an ob-gyn. I think 18 is very young, you're thinking with your hormones not your head right now. Just be careful--and again, I'm sorry if I sound like I'm judging, I'm not. Take care.

First of all, you are an adult and should be able to take yourself to a doctor.

Second of all, at 18, your spelling is appalling.

Going to a "gynecologist" is the same as going to any other doctor except they specialize in one main area. A OBGYN will examine your vaginal area and cervix. The only discomfort some women experience is from the speculum. A speculum widens the vagina for the doctor to view inside at the cavity walls and cervix. Spreading the vagina cause this discomfort. Also, a metal speculum has a tendency to be cold.

The only issue you need to be concerned with is whether you want a woman or a man handling your vaginal area. Otherwise, OBGYNs provide no reason to be afraid.

I suggest you do some serious research online and obtain some education.
