I'm thinking of buying an ipod/nano now or should I wait till next year or even the year after next? or should I get a zen instead? is there any possible upgrades/drop in price for both ipod and zen?

The iPod is currently the best, but you will pay for it. You can always buy the previous generation of iPod, and they will be marked down. If you like the zen, that might be a better choice, of course there's a reason iPods are all over the market. The longer the MP3 player war is going on, the more chances you have to see a cheeper, or more powerful MP3 player. So waiting is up to you.

i can't answer about the future of the cost- but i have had both a zen and an ipod and there are ups and downs to both. overall i like the ipod better- the only real down side is that once a song is in itunes you can't export for anything other than your ipod or to a burned disc. that isn't the case with the zen- once it's ripped you can use it anyway you like. but- i have been pretty rough on my ipod (an entire bottle of water came open in my bag and drowned the poor bugger) and it always manages to come back to life...i dropped the zen once and that was it- the end. not to mention i had the zen extra which (although it had 40 gigs) was as big an bulky as a cassette walkman and caused me much ridicule- odd thing for a grown woman to get flack over her tech products- and everyone loves the ipod...it's the most fashionable accessory in years. hope i helped.

iPod is best, I havent heard of any new ones, though. I think its safe to get one now. I just got my iPod video a month ago. Good Luck!
