As a south side Chicagoan I am wondering if anyone can tell me why so few women seem to wear pantyhose anymore. It used to be that you would see women more professionally dressed with a suit, heels and pantyhose and now that style of dress seems to be disappearing from our culture. Are there still women who enjoy that style of dress or am I doomed to see it go away foever? Thanks and have a great day!

I'm with you, Skip. Most women say that pantyhose are uncomfortable and that's why they don't like wearing them. But if they would only experiment with different brands and styles, they would realize that not all hose are uncomfortable. There are some brands that are very comfortable and feel nice with an amazing appearance. I think the majority of women have tried to wear cheap hose and assumed that all pantyhose were the same.

I'm with you my friend! Women look so much more "dressed" when wearing stockings than without! It's this relaxed attitude eveyone seems to have today. Sometimes a little dressy is nice. The 50's and 60's must have been nice. By the way, I'm a north side Chicagoan brother!

I don't understand how women who work in offices in Chicago, one of the frigid cities in winter can not be wearing hosiery. Younger girls like myself have stopped wearing pantyhose in favor of stockings and hold ups, but the effect is still the same, in fact the type of stockings I wear that use a garter belt are much more sheer than pantyhose ever were.

Maybe you should hang outside of some cooperate offices or law buildings, and go to the after work watering holes. I live in upstate NY where it is not as windy as Chicago, and everyone here wears hosiery in winter.

...I work in a professional environment, and dress accordingly,...pantyhose are still a part of fashion, just not the staple anymore. Stockings, hose, nylons, or thigh highs, whichever you choose to call them, have become much more popular in the last few years, sort of a revival from yesteryear, and truthfully are much more attractive, alluring, and comfortable to wear, (of couse, that's just my opinion)

...i don't think p/h will ever disappear completely,...your just not going to see alot of women wearing them on a daily basis...

Yes, pantyhose is starting to be a thing of the past, for sure. Now women use that "liquid panthose" that you spray on. Something like a self tanner- type thing you can find it in any dept. store. OR, just thigh-high stockings with a cute little thong,----- sometimes just the thigh-highs!

Depending on the style of the dress I think you should wear hose. I can see not wearing them with a sundress.

I love how they look but have never found them terribly comfortable. My biggest problem is that when I wear them, my feet slide around in my shoes.

You try wearing them. They are horribly uncomfortable. The hose runs and they are a little tricky to put on. The shoes hurt our feet and in the winter time wearing something that leaves your legs bare is not practical.

Over here in the UK, business women always wear tights. It's easier than shaving.

Oh, and don't be so pervy!
