Trying to connect 2 computers, both running XP via USB 2.0 data link cable. When I plug it in the found new hardware wizard pops up to search for drivers. Only one of the computers has online access. Can I download the drivers to that computer and transfer them to computer 2? Or do I have to have the drivers installed on computer 2 before it will recognize the data link?

Thank you dulanka, I will go ahead and try it.

Me and you, I am not trying to connect both computers to the internet, only transfer files. And if I had both computers online, why would I use chat software to transfer the files, why not email? Thanks, but I think you misunderstood my question.

You will probably need the driver installed on both computers before you can link them.

you cant link 2 computers up to each other by usb its not done that way . if you want 2 computers on the same network have one with a router on and the other with wireless card or usb adapter . then you can send files from one computer to the next . using chat software such as msn or yahoo
