I have come up with a system that helps me.

Take a regular sheet of notepaper and draw a line down the page about a third of the way in from the left edge of the paper. Now, open your text and read the first paragraph. On the left side of the line, write in your own words what this paragraph is about. On the right side of the line, write important dates, words, (with definitions if it's a new word), or names you need to remember.

Go on to the next paragraph and do the same. Keep it brief but be sure to note important things.

Keep these notes in sequence in a notebook or folder.

Now, It's time to study. Read over your notes. You will remember the information by reading the cues you have written. I also highlight dates and names just so I am sure I repeat them to myself a couple of times to myself.

The best advise I can give you is; If you prepare in this way you will remember most of the information. Don't panic when taking tests. Say to yourself, "I have prepared and will do well." Take one question at a time. Don't read ahead. Focus on each question.

I know you will do well. You are concerned enough to ask so I'm confident you will find your way.

Good Luck.

i think you need to study in increments...here's my trick that works (not bragging but 4 straight semesters of 4.0gpa): Ex. if you have an exam on chapter 1-4...read chapter 1 and 2...then take a 15 or 20 minute nap (known fact that your brain registers information during sleep). Then read chapter 3-4 and take another 15-20 minute nap...then review chapter 1-4 fully and take another 15-20 minute nap...goodluck

Find out if any other students in your class are interested in forming a study group. Discussing things outloud usually sticks in people's heads better.
