Each of your eyes has a tiny drain that varies in size right in the corner by your nose. what is too large or too thick like (Mucus) will drain to the other side where it will drip off or you will wipe it off.

They do come out eventually, when your eye is flushed with water from tears, mostlikely while you are asleep.
