The real losers with Bolton stepping down will be Israel. With his unstinting support gone, Israel will now have to act humanely with it's neighbors. No longer will they be allowed to kill 2000 women and children and then be defended on the world stage, bringing America into disrepute.

As far as Bolton is concerned, I say good riddance to bad rubbish.

John Bolton had no chance of being confirmed by the US senate.
By law, President Bush could not re-appoint him to that (UN ambasador) position.
He could however, have been appointed to another position, like "the United Nations american empire loco", but that may have hurt his feelings.

I don't understand why Bush recycles his daddy's old personnel? He should have brought new blood in from day 1 and helped rejuvenate his party and given some experience for future Republican leaders. So, I would have to say no.
