Any kind of trap. I prefer the inhumane kind. The sticky paper is good, too, because if you don't check it, the mouse will slowly starve to death. The snap traps are good, but the mouse is usually killed instantly when its neck is snapped. Good luck and have fun.

That would depend on your preference of a letheal or non-lethal trap. For lethal devices, your standard spring-mouse trap or a glue trap are very effective killing machines. You want to select a size trap that is suitable to your rodent. You should place it on a surface or trail that is frequented by the animal. The most effective bait I have seen is peanut butter (crunchy). Mice find this irresistable. Some persons also roast a very thin slice of dried coconut (but this may be too laborious to come by and prepare).
These baits may also be used in non-lethal traps that can also be placed strategically.

Just a little warning: Be careful with the glue traps. We had a mouse actually chew his leg of to get free.

Try some of the super sticky pads where you put the traps. If it does not have an odor to attract them, just put a little bit on it. Good luck.
