Rest your elbow. Take an over-the-counter painkiller in recommended doses and Apply heat to the joint means of a hot-water bottle. You may opt for another injection of hydrocortisone and a local anaesthetic at the point of greatest tenderness in order to reduce the inflammation. I recommend you have your elbow x-rayed to check that the trouble is not due to injury. In cases of severe pain the doctor may put in plaster your elbow for up to six weeks.

I had the same problem and was able to treat it myself without doctors or shots! Go to:

http://patients.uptodate.com/topic.asp?file=bone_joi/7086

There are some great tips and exercises you can do to treat it!
Like:

ICE — The elbow joint and its supporting tendons are located just under the surface of the skin. Thus, local application of ice for 10 to 15 minutes, three to four times per day is very effective in controlling pain and inflammation. An iced towel wrapped around the elbow, blue ice packs, or an ice bag can all be used.

Also check out the section on GRIP EXERCISES. That is what I did and it worked!

Good luck!

Ice and heat treatments are good for temporary relief....get a cortisone shot again....ask about surgery to remove the scar tissue that is causing the pain. Good luck!

You can safely get another one since it's been 4 months already since your 1st injection. However, did you try to find out what was causing the tendinitis? If you don't get to the root, you won't find permanent relief.
