Because your uterus (and baby) are pushing up on your stomach. That's why. Take some Tums- you can eat them like candy with zero side-effects for your baby. The heartburn will go away when you have the baby, or maybe when the baby "drops" late in pregnancy (if you're lucky).

You can take Tums. The baby is pushing up on your stomach and that causes the heartburn. Try to not lay down for at least an hour after eating. Also avoid acidy, or spicy foods. It can last the whole time or come and go. Hopefully you don't have it too bad. I learned what I couldn't eat pretty quick.

It's because the womb is pushing up against the stomach, causing a reflux in stomach acids. It's normal to feel this but unfortunately it can go on until birth. You should be able to take some antacid tablets but consult your GP first to find out which ones are safe.

Gaviscon. There are numerous reasons you get it. Old wives tales state it's because you're baby will have lots of hair, I think it's because the stomach is cramped in there with the baby making things much harder to digest. Go to the chemist and they will advise you, however, I was advised to take the Gaviscon liquid.

until you give birth it will last, and it will probably get worse. I had it pretty bad last time.. the reason you get it is b/c your uterus is growing and it forces all of your other internal organs upwards (stomach, intestines) and squishes them. You can take tums, if that doesnt help Mylanta. I know some docs recommend stronger things like prevacid if its really bad but i would ask the doc before taking anything stronger..

I had it for the whole 9 months - it was my first symptom - old wives tales state that you will have a hairy baby if you get heartburn but personal experience tells me that is rubbish - gavisconm by the bucket load did it for me - i carried them in my handbag - had one at the side of the bed, a bottle in my car and one on my desk .... superb

Eat smaller amounts more often like instead of three meals a day have smaller snacks throughout the day. Try eating small amounts every 4 hours or so.
nibble on saltine crackers and
sometimes gingersnap cookies help.

unfortunately as your baby is now putting so much pressure on your stomach causing acid and heartburn youll hasve it on n off till the birth. you may also be sore from the baby kicking your ribs. i found it really helpful to drink cooled boiled water (still warm but not too hot) with a little sugar in it.

I suffered with heartburn and I was one of those people who wouldn't take anything at all for anything during pregnancy. I had packets and packets of mints. They really do work and it has to be better than taking Gaviscon.

Tums for heartburn.
But if this is really worrying you go to the doc to make sure everything is ok!
