Lee Oswald was the fall guy. There are several theories, but one which makes sense is that the Mafia wanted to do away w/JFK and RFK because RFK was plugging away fiercely to get at the Mafia, Jimmy Hoffa, all those guys. Also, JFK had been planning to do away w/Castro, so there's another angle.
But it most likely was a conspiracy. Oswald was just one part of the puzzle.

Or how about this: He and Bobby both became liabilities too big to handle because of their inability to stay away from women AND blab... and the same people were responsible for Marilyn Monroe's death... (I read the Reader's Digest article re MM from awhile back... I'm not convinced, but it's an interesting line of thought).
