Moving the CMOS reset jumper would be my choice. With computer still plugged in but turned off--move jumper to reset position. It only takes a few seconds. Move jumper back and reboot. I only use this if someone has put a password on the settings.

You forgot to mention which bios your motherboard uses? At first boot hit (F2 F10 or Delete to go into bios settings.) Usually you can reset to factory defaults there. Make sure you check HD CD & Built In defaults as your computer may need to be adjusted. Use your manual to determine your optimal settings.

I only remove the battery as a last resort! Make sure you are not on carpeting--don't touch anything else in there!

to reset the cmos can be done by using the jumper or by removing the battery if you have the manual for the m/b it shows the default values in there or looking at the bottom of the screen in the bios there might be an option for safe settings or something like it

You will need to check the manual for your motherboard.

Usually the process involves moving a small jumper from one position to another for a few seconds, and then moving it back.

Some BIOSes can be reset if a certain key on the keyboard is held down during boot.

I agree with the other guy but leave it out for a lot longer - In my experience 15 mins is not enough - try an hour to be safe - it costs nothing
