Yes, it's possible.
Everything happens for a reason, and everything passes with time.

Well first I think everyone's "hell" is different, but I definitely believe I was there.
About 6 years ago, my company was transferring my position to the headquarters in CA from IL. Thae announcement was made in July, my 11 yr old marriage was ending after he cheated twice - I deceded to boot his as* out of the house and end it. I was being left at the age of 36 with a house, 2 dogs, and 2 kids 7 & 11. Got divorced a few months later, found another position within the same company, my Mom came and stayed with the kids and I to help get us into a new routine....and after 6 years, I have purchased 3 vehicles on my own. My divorce attorney was paid in full, I am only $1100 in debt on 1 credit card (but I have 4 with credit of over $75,000) bought a house on my own and am happier than I ever was. The only thing I am looking for now is a partner to share life with. So I think I was there - and am 150% happier now.

I holidayed in hell last summer (stupid misleading package holiday deals, never know what you're getting yourself into). It wasn't great to be honest, severe lack of accomodation (eveyone there seems to live in either a tenement or a caravan), very few good places to eat, and all the locals are total a$$holes. We tried to take in the sights and sounds but were continaully accosted by crowds of wailing natives. I couldn't understand what most of them were saying, but I got the distinct feeling we were less than welcome. The nights can be brutally long, and with nothing to do for entertainment (nothing but Fox on TV, and for some reason the cinemas were running nothing but Gigli, J-Lo must have been making a killing in royalties.) we were often forced to turn in early.
There were some positives, the drink there is remarkably cheap, so much so that I hardly noticed it was piss-poor american domestic lager. There's absolutely no shortage of public transportation, and the lake of fire looks amazing, especially at night, not that we could see it from our apartment, what with the giant statue of Hitler in the way.

There are actually real life accounts of people going in and out of consciousness and on the brink of dying who claim they had brief glimpses of hell. They have lived to tell about it and it is documented in a book entitled, "To Hell and Back: Life After Death, Startling New Evidence" by Dr. Maurice Rawlings.
Dr. Rawlings is a cardiologist who specializes in performing heart surgery in which patients go through a very brief time without a heartbeat. During this brief time the patient literally dies and then is quickly resucitated. It is during this period in which many have claimed they witnessed some form of visions of the afterlife both negative and positive.
If you are truly interested in the afterlife I suggest reading this book. It's quite the eye opener. Everything has been documented and verified as factual occurences.

I've been to Hell - nice place, but I'm not much for the dry heat. Like all bad times, you just start by putting one foot in front of the other. After a while, it starts taking care of itself - you keep moving, you keep living, and then climb your way back out. (And don't be too proud to accept help on the way...)
I'm on the way back up from a second trip to Hell at this moment. I'll let you know when I get to 'better than content'...

Oh, goodness, let me tell ya 'bout hell...lol My family went through hell! We were all in a tornado on Apr. 2, 2006. I was critically injured & stayed in Springfield, MO & St. John's Trauma Ctr. for nearly a mth. That horrible growling, screaming, & any other adjective I can think of for that F4 tornado that took all of our worldly possessions & tried to take our lives!! But, now 8 mths. later. We are all ok (well, as ok as one can be after going through an ordeal like that). We are so happy & very blessed to still have our lives!! My husband, our 2 boys (ages 10 & 8), & myself are alive & have a miracle to tell the world about.

Literal Hell? Don't think anyone's come back.
Been through hard times to come through it? Absolutely!. Life is like a roller coaster. You hit dips in the road, then things get brighter.
The key isn't in avoiding the dips, it's realizing there gonna be there so preparing for them, handle them, then enjoy and make the most of the up times.

Yep. I lost seven people within the period of a year, culminating with a good friend having heart failure (who was 24), and my brother and his girlfriend committed suicide. My entire perspective on life has changed. I'm still in therapy and the like but I'm much better now. Sometimes you hit bottom and it makes you realize that life is precious and happiness is relative - just be content with who you are and what you have because life is fleeting and we only get one time around.

So happy I'm going there again, want me to send a postcard? But we wouldn't appreciate good without evil, day without night, etc. etc. The secret is enjoy the good times while you can, when you can, however you can, if it's flipping beer bottle caps into a waste can.

Your question presupposes that someone has been to hell and made it back.
Literally, the Christian's answer would be "no one has been to hell and made it back".
Figuratively, many divorced folk and combat veterans probably would say they've been in hell.
