Holy Night

I very much enjoy Oh Holy Night. I think the most well known carol however is Silent Night. Here in Michigan there is a town called Frankenmuth which has Christmas all year long. At this location is a replica of the chapel where the song was written. On the path leading to the chapel the words to Silent Night are on signs written in the many languages of the world. It is a lovely place to visit.

For most of my life it was 'Do You Hear What I Hear'...we sang it in a 5th grade Christmas Program and I just loved it...but then, last year, I heard Clay Aiken sing the song 'Mary, DId You Know' and it literally made me cry! The line that says 'Mary, did you know that your baby boy has walked where Angels trod? And, when you kiss your little baby, you've kissed the face of God, Mary did you know?' just tears me up for some reason...and now THAT is my favorite...

"The Huron Carol". It is, BTW, the first Christian hymn ever composed in an Indigenous Nation's language.

"have yourself a merry little Christmas... here we are as in olden days, happy golden days... faithful friends who are dear to us, gather near to us once more..."
it's beautiful, and often a tear jerker!!
