I would cover them wth a very strong (organic) liquid weedkiller. Then when everything dies back, pull anyything that remains out. Then turn the soil over and you are away.

Pull all the weeds out then dig the roots out when you have finished put a weed screen down till spring then plant whatever you want to grow well worth the trouble

Depends how big it is but I would clear another space and move the tunnel. Or move the tunnel, clear away the weeds and then put it back.
