My oldest girl has short hair, by choice. But when ever we go some where she always gets called a boy. Even if she is wearing pink or a dress. The same goes for my baby, if she isn't in pink, people asume that she is a boy. And I know that you are saying well maybe your girls look like boys, but they don't. So what is a good response when this happens?

I had the problem with my little boy. At first I would let it slide but then like you said...you could plainly see that he was a boy and in fact his clothing screamed "BOY"...so I started correcting anyone who called him a girl. People seem to get all ga-ga and crazy when there are babies around so they don't really mean any harm...I think they just blurt out the first thing that comes to their minds trying to make small talk while they gawk at your baby. LOL. Most people are thankful when you correct them and won't make the same mistake twice. As for the older child..reassure your child that she does not look like a boy but that people just don't pay attention and sometimes they say silly things with out thinking .

If they still insist on calling them boys when they are in pink tell them that are being rude. It is hard to tell with newborns but i always introduced the children first so people didn't have the oppurtunity to make that mistake.

Usually what i get is "how old is he"... I just stop for a second, look at them and say "she's 2 months", and they usually apologize. Don't take offense! People mean well. Some people just don't think before they speak. But, since i got her ears pierced, it hasn't happened... I even got an "undoubtibly a girl" once. So that made me feel good.

My son was always called a little girl when he was a baby. he has such a doll face that they just assumed. I always used to say when they said she is so pretty i would say yes HE is. HE is such and such old and loves to do something or other. Good luck.

Say 'it's not a boy, it's a girl'. Simple as that!

Just correct them. Why does it matter? Do you know these people?

My response was always.... "Um, she's a GIRL!" and I walked away.
