If you like RPG's (Role Playing Games) then I think you would enjoy the FF games. I was never much of a RPG person myself, then I played FF 9. I loved it! I've played it 3 times since. I've also tried 7, 8, 10 and 10-2, FF Tactics Advance for the Game Boy SP, and just bought FF 12. I think they have a great story line, and the game play is great. They definitely have replay value. But that's just my opinion. Maybe you should rent one of them, or borrow one from a buddy and try them out yourself. That way, if they're not for you, you didn't spend the money to buy it.
Regarding the number of FF Games. There are to many variations to count. Between Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PS, 1, 2, 3, Game Boy, Wii, Mobile, DS, PC, and Xbox, there's something for everyone. But I did a search on IGN.com for Final Fantasy games and the link below shows what they are. Came out to like 89 of them. Home this helped.

depends on if you like the RPG era. they are one of the original series for a game console, and have the longest running series (going back to the old 8-bit nintendo). It also depends on if you count the final fantasies that weren't released in the US, and if you count spinoffs of current titles (such as X-2). My favorite was final fanasy 3, but that was on the super nintendo, and before they started the main characters as 10-15 year olds.

7! Squall replaced into way too emo and that i could not stand the full draw magic element on 8. the full love subject felt greater foreign places than the different video games. You junction and equip magic to statistics after which you would be able to not even use it until eventually you prefer to lose your stats! That witch boss replaced into lame, too. i've got owned 8 because of the fact the day it got here out. I performed by it as quickly as and have not given it a 2nd theory. FF7 is in my all time good 5.

Currently their are about 20 or so, some being re-released on the GBA and PS1. The best ones are FF1 (nes) for the sake of it being the first. FF3 (usa FF6 jap) SNES. FF7 and 9 on the PS1 (7 being re-released on the PS3 soon), FFX and FFXII on the ps2 are good as well. There are a multitude of others (1-13, mystic quest, chrystal chronicles).
