Ok, seeing if I can hit all the correct points before the caffiene kicks in this morning:
Drag queens are men who dress up as women, and do so out in public. Many are gay men, but not all. Many go on stage and entertain, but not all.
But the main, predominant factor seems to be a certain degree of *overkill*. Drag queens, as opposed to just plain transvestites (ordinary guys dressing like the ladies), generally have a reputation of taking things three or four steps farther than what most people, men and woman alike, would go in the name of "looking fabulous". Meaning your average Drag Queen will tend to dress, walk, talk and act way *Way* more vamped-up, girly, "hot", etc., than what even your average woman would.
And, generally speaking, there is a certain harsh, thick-skinned attitude about it all as well, as if they rather expect people to get in their face and attack them over it all (because well, it does happen).
Basically though, yeah, the "drag" part of it comes from a guy dressing in women's clothes ("in drag" is the expression), while the "Queen" part comes from the excess. It isn't just about guys dressing like women, it is about guys *Over-Dressing* like women, to the point of not leaving the house in anything not "haute couture". If that makes sense.

a male dressed as a woman is said to be dressed in drag.
a drag queen is some one that is not doing this for a play or a costume party but is instead doing this more often and for sexual excitement.

a drag queen is not necessarily a gay man,not all drag queens are gay you know.basically a drag queen is a man who dresses up as a woman and they usually entertain people on stage by doing stand up comedy.
