We have seven children, the oldest is 19 and the youngest is 2 1/2. The oldest has moved out now, but all the kids help the little ones get ready for school or whatever. I would not like to have all the kids one or two years apart.

Oh closer for sure. It makes for a stronger bond when the kids get older. It was nice because I have a little bro. We are two years apart and we are very close. I couldn't imagine life with out a sibling. When you go to amusement parks it will be hard to satisfy both of them as far as rides go. My boyfriend has a 6 year old and we just had a baby. (hes 5 weeks) She is a great big sis and good at helping when it comes to the baby! However I feel like I want one more with-in the next 3 years so my son has someone a little closer to him!

I'd rather have them closer. My sister and I are 8 yrs apart and for good period we hated each other. That's until around the time I turned 13. I guess we can attribute that to me realizing how a big sister could be a blessing and her realizing that she can help her little sister out in situations she's already tackled. We're super close now but we could've probably been even closer from the beginning if our ages weren't so far apart.

For me I love that I had my kids spaced far apart. I have a 10, 6, and 17 wk old. The reason I like it is because all of my kids got to be "the baby" in the family for a good amount of time. I didn't have to give up holding my little ones all the time and none of them had any problems adjusting to the birth of a new sibling because they were older and more mature and were very excited to be able to help with the new baby.

I like 3-4 year spreads. I personally think it gives Mom plenty of time to heal (they say it's best to wait at least 18 months before getting pregnant again) plus by the time the older child reaches 3 he/she is fairly independent as far as getting dressed, going potty, eating...you get the point.
The other benefit I have found from this age difference is that around this age they are naturally curious about the body and the changes in it and it is a great learning experience for them. They are capable of loving the baby without the intense jealousy that is common with a child under 3.
My sister and I are 8 years apart and for MANY years we had nothing in common had constant disagreements, as we got older (into adulthood) we have become great friends though. My husband has 4 siblings and the one he is closest to is his sister who is 3 1/2 years younger than him.
Just my personal preference tho :)

My two were born in Jan 1995 & Nov 2001 so there is almost 7 years diff there. We love it. Both boys are like only kids. The oldest didn't get kicked out of his "crib" before it was time and being older he doesn't require a ton of attention like he did before therefore we were able to treat the baby like the baby!

I have three children, ages 16, 14 and 9. The two oldest are girls and despite all the sibling fussing, they are the best of friends. My 9 year old son attempts to keep up with his older sisters, and he does well.
I believe having children close to age, although a bit tough when they are younger will grow up to be close as they grow older. That has proven true in my situation. :-)

I have 3 boys 5,2, and 6 months. I'm not sure how it is to have them far apart in age but having them close in age is rough. They fight and always wants what the other one has its just crazy. To me I would rather have them more apart.

I have an 11 yr old, 6 yr old, 4 yr old, and identical twin 15 month olds. The bigger age gap kids get a long better. The 6 and 4 yr old fight and so do the twins.

I would wait til I'm married, that's in my case. When I do have kids, it just depends on timing. It doesn't matter about having kids with their ages close or not. If it happens unexpected(getting pregnant) it's not a big deal as long as you know what you are doing, and are prepared for another bundle of joy!
