When i was eleven, there was this teacher used to keep me behind after classes, and tell me he was gonna put me in a box, and take me home. If i cried, he shouted at me, i was terrified of the creep. He is now in prison, as he was found to be a peadophile, this happened years after i left school, but it makes my skin crawl now i am older, and wiser, and realise what a danger he was.

A false cake with icing wasn't as cruel as my 4th-5th grade PE coach. He'd make fun of us and if anyone didn't listen to his instructions he'd do a claw-like "Vulcan Nerve Pinch" on the boys or a hard grip on the upper arm if it was a girl.
I remember telling my parents about it and I think he got reprimanded for it, because he stopped doing it, but he still made fun of us. This was back in 1982-1983 things aren't like that these days.
I don't believe in corporal punishment and no teacher should phyically discipline a student, but sometimes I think it would be better to have parents sign a "Discipline Pass" at the begining of the year where they can selcted appropriate methods. It wouldn't work for high school, but I think middle school and elementary student would think twice about mouthing off or striking a teacher if they knew that teacher had permission from their parents to smack them if they misbehave.
I'd raise my kids to behave in school, and if they ever do come up with a "Discipline Pass" for teachers, my kids will know that if they disrespect a teacher they're going to get punished. And if they're really bad it'll be twice, once at school, and again when they get home. I think if parents and teachers worked together to get the kids to show just a BASIC amount of respect there would be less student violence in the lower grades.

i was in school in the fifties and sixties so i guess i have alot of horror stories that could curl your toe nails but here is just one that isnt quite as bad, but bad enough. when a little boy in our kindergarden class would pee his pants the teqacher would make them wear a skirt for the rest of the day. i think that was just humiliating the kid unecisarilly, but that is the way they did it then. and if you were bad you had to sit under the teachers desk and the woman teachers back then were required to wear a dress or skirt to school as were the female students. they even had the boys do it. .some sick stuff going on in the old school rooms ill tell ya. have a great day.

Depending how sadistic he was feeling at the time, Mr Jarvis would rap our knuckles with either the flat side or the sharp edge of a wooden 12 inch ruler. But when he was in his 'De Sade' mood he would push pins through the flat side and vent his wrath with that....

My science teacher used to keep rulers in the freezer. If you've ever been smacked round the knuckles with a frozen ruler then you know its not funny. Sure enough though i got an a in science, was too scared to get anything else.

One of my design technology teachers threw the blackboard rubber at one girl, because she talked when his back was turned. Another one of them had a boy up by his throat once, I'm sure she was suspended and sent for investigation...
