I dont take iron, and havent had any dark leafy veggies lately. But I do have a bad tooth that needs pulled. I do take tylenol, motrin, aleve, and advil. not alot though. maybe 2 to 3 times a day. I guess I will see if it still happens for this week and then go see a dr.

i do take pepto bismol alot so that might be the answer. I take it when I have heartburn, stomach ache, and if i feel really fool. so Im gonna not take it for 2 weeks and see if anything changes. I dont see a reason why I would be bleeding inside. plus I just had a bowel and its more of a dark green to dark brown. doesnt seem like tar either. but thank you all so much for helping and thanks for the website

Dark stools, black or almost black, are what we call in the medical profession as being tarry. Dark stools can come from eating different things like very dark cookies (oreos for example). My son has dark stools whenever he eats a lot of them. And dark leafy vegitables can also cause the stool to be dark. But soda, no I don't think so.

Dark stools can also come from taking iron as a supplement.

My question is, are you having any other symptoms with it? Now tarry stools can also be a sign of digested blood in the stool. It won't be red in appearance, because the bleeding could have come from higher up like in your stomach, and you've digested it just as you would food. This could come from taking too much aspirin or motrin, which leads to bleeding in the stomach. Or it could come from ulcers. But if you can't think of any foods that would have caused this, I really suggest you see your doctor ASAP.

No not normal. It could mean that u r bleeding somewhere in ur GI tract, or some supplements like iron can make u have dark stools. If u aren't taking any supplements, u should see a dr.

Depends on whether you think the colour is related to blood, if you do see a Dr asap, if you have been eating a lot of licorice, beetroot etc and apart from colour the stool appears normal dont stress.

Generally feces tend to take on the colour of what you've eaten. I find it goes dark if i've eaten meat and other things wthat require beef stock of gravy, spinach or taken charcoal capsules which are actually recommended as digestive aids. If you've not eaten any of these i'd say...just to be safe...yeah, go see the doc.

maybe or maybe not depends on what you've been eating. if you've been eating normally than it should be normal. if your bowel movements or color is abnormal. at least call and ask a doctor or nurses station.

Black => blood, possibly a stomach ulcer. Get to a doctor quick as your stomach may burst and you will digest yourself slowly until you are a pile of poo with a head.

could be something you are eating, but search on the

internet for black stools, and see what is says there.

You probably need to see a doctor if it is not something

you are eating, or a new drug you are using.
