It allows your computer to read from and write to flash memory cards (for a camera, etc.). You just put the card into the card reader and it will show up in "My Computer."

card reader allows your computer to read and write to all types of memory cards. just put the memory card into the card reader and u can access from the computer.

I don't have a card reader, I have one built into my photo printer. All that I do is put my card into my printer and it reads my card for me and then I can download any pics I want from my camera to print them.

It is used to transfer documents from your flash media to your comptuer. much faster then from camera to pc. I hope this helps.:)
