Does the character of an actor/actress tells who they really are?

My point is... for example meg ryan always is a romantic girl almost in every movie...while robert de niro is a really tuff guy...why doesn't mess with him :):)

Do they chose they role according to their personality?

Not exactly. Some actors picks roles over and over again because there comforable with that type of character and they know they can pull it off. Some other actors though like challeneges and will take on tougher roles to better themselves in their work. Take Johnny Depp for example. He's accomplished many outstanding roles that some actors would never be able to pull off. There's others as well. The more diverse role actors take for themselves, the more you know they're serious about acting and challenges.

i believe NO. My theory is that the whole point of 'acting' is to make people believe you really are who you are trying to portray. Depending how much you believe what your seeing depends on how good an actor you are. If your GOOD a romantic person can believably play a tuff guy and vice versa.

Are you suggesting Keanu Reeves is a real air head.
It's not as easy as it looks.
One has to look toward the horizon and think of absoulutly nothing then say the line while putting one hand over his heart.

Yeah i think so - maybe not entirely but if they agree to choose the role then their life must be pretty similar to that character

sometimes ...the directors find people that would fit the role the best and so their personality is included in the character...
