I am an at home mom of 2 with a dog and 8 saltwater fish, taking 2 college online courses, Girl Scout Leader, and Cake Decorator. I have tried to make a cleaning schedule, but it has yet to happen. Doe anyone have a schedule they have been able to somewhat stick to?

I am also a stay-at-home mom with two children and I have tried and tried to stick to a cleaning schedule but something ALWAYS comes up to interfere with it. I finally had convince myself that some things aren't worth worrying about on a daily basis. My mom always told me that some things are more important than having a spotless house...spending time with your family and creating happy memories. The housework will always be there....your children will not. Don't stress too much and you'll be fine. :-)

Flexibility and adaptability is the key.

With all of these things going on it is too hard to have a fixed schedule.

I am big on lists instead of schedules. I make a list and as I do a job, I mark it off. I write down everything, so I feel productive. Everything I don't get done on one day moves to the next day. As you think of things that need doing, add it to the list, If it can be divided up, you can do it in sections. Part today Part tomorrow.

Using your schedule for all of the other activities, take a legal pad and list on the more open days the bigger jobs. Like laundry or vacuuming and moping floors.

The kitchen is every day, the beds are every day. As you walk from room to room just try to stay on top of misc. that needs to be put away.

I used to wipe down the bathrooms while supervising baths, etc. That way they stayed reasonable.

""Tidiness creates the illusion of cleanliness.""

Trust me when I say, and I am 65 and was always a clean freak. When you get old you will never wish you had kept a cleaner house.

Do the basics to keep everyone healthy. Read to your kids, do projects, cook with then. These are the things they will remember and love you for. I now cook and do projects with my granddaughters.

Good luck and Happy Holidays.

I'm not a stay at home mom, but I am a full time working single mother of one child.

Each room has an assigned day it gets cleaned, I'm really good about putting things away after we are done using them and years ago I learned to limit the amount of toys my son has at one time. Each night I spend 30 minutes cleaning that room, it's a detailed clean wiping everything down including walls.

Other rooms are just tidied up as I go to bed.

In the morning I use the Lysol wipes to wipe the bathroom counters down and the toilet down.

Laundry is done when the hampers are full and I fold the clothes as soon as they are done.

I say I spend 45mins to an hour a day cleaning each day. I personally don't feel my whole day is consumed by cleaning or any time is taken away from my son, in fact he helps me. I've let him help me since he was able to walk.

We turn the T.V off.

On the weekends I spend 2 or 3 hours cleaning the whole house including basement and garage.

The idea is really getting in the habit of being organized getting rid of clutter.

Of course things have came up and we got off schedule, but it was pretty easy to get back on track.

Good Luck

I was a stay at home mom with 6 kids. We tried cleaning scheduals but didn't stay with them for many reasons. The only one that we kept up with was who's day for the washer and drier. I figure if someone came over to see my house rather than us they deserved what they got. we had 6 kids!

I used to have a cleaning schedule. It was more of an
OCD and a burden to deal with it until I stopped the
insanity. Now I just pace my self. Eventually, everything
gets cleaned.

Here it is....Wash clothes when the washer is full, do the dishes when no more will fit in the sink or dishwasher, and clean the floors once a week....carry a feather duster in your back pocket so if you see dust you just reach into your pocket and do it at once...no trying to remember to come back to it.
